Help with hole in wall....

My condo is over 30 years old....my windows do not have frames....there was

a curtain rod in my bathroom and the drywall (or whatever it is made of)

just completely crumbledand now there is a huge hole in the wall where the

horrible not to mention l like a curtain in the bathroom (especially now 
to cover that hole!)...
l think the framework behind the drywall is

That is pretty easy to fix. It probably got too much moisture

ask for ''green board''. This is drywall but it is moisture resistant.

Ok there is got to be a wooden framework somewhere in behind  
doory
all that dry-wall.

two ways to patch

a) quick & dirty - slap in a new sheet of drywal over the old one. paintit  
or whatever -- use anchor screws to hang new curtain rod  
 
b) slower & better -- knock out crumbly drywall around hole untill you  
find the studs behind. Use a utility knife to cut away drywall so you have  
enough stud exposed to nail new peice to . cut to fit new peice, tape &  
putty in sand it down & paint it .. yeah it will hold new rod, probably  
use anchor bolts unless screwing fasteners into studding (framework)

Use plaster! smooth it down with something! Then repaint over  
gnarly cakes
it when it drys

there is a leak somewhere in the outer wall..it didn't

'crumble' for no reason. anyway, dry wall is very easy to patch.
